Rebecca Thorne
Rebecca graduated with honors with a BFA in Ballet Performance from the University of Oklahoma where she was a member of Gamma Beta Phi and Who’s Who Among American Colleges and Universities. She has danced professionally with Ballet Arkansas, Arkansas Festival Ballet, Oklahoma Festival Ballet, Tulsa Ballet Theatre, Los Angeles Contemporary Ballet, and Universite Clermont-Ferrand, France. She has performed in such ballets as, The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, Graduation Ball, Swan Lake, Carmina Burana, and Romeo and Juliet, as well as numerous contemporary ballet and modern works.
Rebecca has participated in workshops and master classes with the USA International Ballet Competition, Hubbard Street Dance and Alvin Ailey II. She has worked with such noted teachers and choreographers as David Howard, Finis Jhung, Kirt Hathaway, Joe Istre, Clara Cravey of Houston Ballet and Kathleen Tracy of New York City Ballet. Recently, Rebecca has added acting to her resume by appearing in Austin Powers 3, Catch Me If You Can and commercials for ABC Family Channel, Best Damn Sports Show, Toyota and Eastwood Insurance. She also performed with the comedy troupe, Danny’s Dying Wish, at the 2005 Los Angeles Sketch Comedy Festival.
Rebecca has been teaching dance for the past six years at dance studios in Arkansas and Los Angeles, as well as for La Reina High School in Thousand Oaks, California. She is currently the Ballet Director at Revolution Dance Center in Tujunga, CA. Her choreography credits include: “Annie” for Pasadena Junior Theatre, “All Night Long” music video for EMI recording artist, Smoot, and assisted on a children’s instructional tap dance video, “One, Two, Three Tap.” She has judged competitions for Dance Champs and National American Miss. She continues to choreograph numerous classical and contemporary ballets for Revolution Dance Center ’s award wining competition group, JK’s Dance Company. Rebecca loves to pass on her experience, knowledge and love of dance to her students through teaching and choreographing.
